Opportunities to Serve

Now is a great time to take stock of how you might volunteer in the ministries of First Church of God. We will need an army of volunteers this fall to help us fulfill our mission of joining our lives to God’s love for the world. Please take a moment to look over the “Serve” brochure and identify some areas of service in which you might be interested. Or pick one up at the Welcome Table and return the brochure to the Welcome Table as soon as you have completed it. One of our ministry leaders will contact you to tell you more about your areas of interest.

Childcare

We are in need of volunteers to work in the nursery this fall. Our need is for two adults during 1st service, one adult during 2nd service and one youth for the 5th Sunday of the month during 1st service. Please contact Barb Richardson at 833-7965 and ask how you can join your life to God’s love for our children.

Youth

There are many wonderful ways to make an eternal impact in the lives of our students. Here are some specific opportunities this year:

  • Connect – Adults who are passionate about helping students explore some of life’s biggest questions and introducing new students to Christ for the first time (Sunday Nights at the Filling Station).
  • Equip – Adults who are passionate about helping students go deeper to discover God’s story and join Him in their daily lives (Sunday Morning Christian Education teacher or Spiritual Coaches/Mentors).
  • Building Bridges – Families who love connecting with students through hosting a small group meeting or outreach event. If any of these describe you, please contact Pastor Ben at the church 463-3730.  We would love to tell you more about our ministry with students!

(A background check is performed on anyone who wishes to work with the youth and the elderly).

Librarian

Our church is in need of a volunteer to oversee the adult library. Please contact the church office.

ChristCare Small Group Leader

“I’d like to lead a ChristCare Small Group but… I’m not sure that I can do it well.” Our congregation offers extensive training and support for ChristCare Small Group Leaders. If you believe God might be nudging you toward this kind of service, contact Bev in the church office for more information.
