Anyone new to our congregation is invited to attend “Our DNA, A Class for Newcomers.” During this session, we’ll discuss what makes us unique as a church, our particular mission and purpose. We will enjoy a complimentary meal together during the last hour of the class. If you’ve been wondering how to get involved at First Church of God, or what makes this church tick, this is the place to begin. ‘Our DNA…’ will meet in the west room. Christ’s Birthday Offering

UPDATE: We praise God for his generosity, which has inspired and empowered our congregation to give $7768.70 to Christ’s Birthday Offering. This offering will be evenly distributed between Living Water International, Gratiot Emergency Housing, and Church of God Ministries. Once again, the men, women and children of this church are joining their lives to God’s love for the world!

Each December we receive a special offering called “The Christ’s Birthday Offering.” This offering, given above and beyond our general offering, goes to extend the good news of hope that we have through the birth of Jesus. You may designate your gift to Christ’s Birthday Offering through the month of December. We will also take an offering at our  Christmas Eve Services. This year our Christ’s Birthday Offering will support three substantial ministries.

Living Water InternationalLiving Water International

Living Water International exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience “living water”—the gospel of Jesus Christ—which alone satisfies the deepest thirst. For nearly 21 years, LWI has implemented participatory, community-based water solutions in developing countries. They have completed more than 10,000 water projects (and counting!) for communities in 26 countries. For more information, visit their website.

Gratiot Emergency HousingGratiot Emergency Housing

Gratiot Emergency Housing has been working with residents of Gratiot County for 35 years to provide assistance with utilities, rent, and rent deposits to low income families. Gratiot Emergency Housing works closely with other agencies in the community to provide a network of care for many who have been hard-hit by the local economy. All persons who utilize the resources of GEH go through a screening process and develop a payment plan to reimburse GEH. They have no paid employees. Every penny given to GEH goes for its intended purpose!

Church of God MinistriesChurch of God Ministries

This gift will support the world-wide efforts of the church to proclaim the good news of Jesus and offer help, hope and healing in his name. Some of the ministries empowered through this gift will include new church plants, training for pastors and leaders in many countries, radio broadcasts in multiple languages, congregational health and growth initiatives, outreach and support services in 87 countries… and the list goes on and on. Our financial support will join our efforts with other congregations of the Church of God to spread the good news of Christ’s birth around the globe.

You are invited to join one of three adult classes that will begin on September 18. (“The Seekers” will be doing a 3:16 study taken from several books of the Bible (Maurie Luetkemeier will be the teacher). “Middle Ground” will be doing a Bible overview with Jim Luehm.  “Gaining Ground” will be studying the book of Colossians with Tim Sipka.  All classes meet at His Place from 9:45 to 10:45am. Get the details for Adult Christian Education Now!
