Ben KreiderPastor's Perspective

On Sunday morning, June 29, Jeff Leppein, the chair of our Youth Pastor Search Committee, announced that Benjamin Kreider will be joining us on the weekend of July 11, 12 and 13 to candidate for our Youth Pastor position. The committee has selected Ben to candidate for the position after a long, arduous search. I am incredibly grateful to the committee (whom I will recognize at a later date) and I’m very pleased that Ben will join us this weekend as we all seek to discern God’s guidance together.

Ben Kreider is from Columbia City, Indiana. He is a recent graduate of Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, where he majored in Youth Ministry and minored in Bible/Theology. Our search committee has been impressed with Ben’s maturity, creativity and passion for youth ministry. He comes to us very highly recommended. Ben writes, “My call to ministry has been one that has been affirmed in many different ways, both inwardly and outwardly. Inwardly, I have sensed God’s leading through my desire to make my life completely available for him to use. Outwardly, I have seen God use me in ways that have shown spiritual fruit and a growing love for God and others.”

Here you will find a schedule of opportunities to meet Ben. Please make special note that on Sunday evening, July 13, at 5:30 pm we are calling a special business meeting to vote on whether or not to call Ben to be our Youth Pastor. If it is at all possible, please plan to be in attendance that evening.

Allow me to request that you pray for Ben and our congregation as we continue to seek the Spirit’s guidance.

Grateful to be work alongside you,
Pastor Steve

Phil Sipka has moved into an apartment in Inglewood, an inner-city neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. He will be working for a Christian organization called By The Hand. Tutoring elementary students who are failing in school, leading them in worship and activities, and consulting with parents and teachers are some of his responsibilities. He is so excited about the connection of church, neighborhood and school and the relationships he will build through them all. He appreciates your prayers.
