E-Prompter - March 10, 2009Observing LentAs we continue to observe Lent, please take a moment to prepare for worship each Sunday by slowly and carefully reading the passages of Scripture related to the theme for that day. Click here for the recommended passages. Baptism ClassesThose who wish to follow Christ in baptism will have an opportunity to do so on Palm Sunday, April 5th. Baptism is a joyous and powerful practice that signifies the new life that is ours through Jesus Christ. Our congregation practices what we call "believers baptism" - a baptism by immersion of persons who have believed in Jesus Christ and who wish to testify to the church and to the world that they are following him. In other words, people are baptized because of their own faith, not the decision of their parents or other well-wishers. Any new believer or any Christian who has not yet been baptized is strongly encouraged to make this public profession of faith. If you wish to be baptized on April 5th, you are required to participate in a baptism class. Please choose one of these two sessions: Saturday morning, March 14th, from 10:30 am to noon in room 106 (downstairs, beneath the sanctuary), or Tuesday evening, March 17th, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in room 106. If you plan to be baptized, or if you have questions, please contact the church office or sign up at the Welcome Center. The purpose of Stephen Ministry is symbolized in its logo which portrays the cross, two individuals and a circle. The individual behind the cross appears to be broken, possibly due to imperfections and uncontrollable situations; the person standing in front of the cross does so because of the healing power and transforming grace of God, through the cross of Christ; the circle represents how we are made whole through the never ending love of Christ. More about Stephen Ministry will be introduced in future E-Prompters. Childcare CoordinatorThere is a need for a paid childcare coordinator for our church.
